Harry A. BakerOctober 8, 1916 - November 5, 2013Harry A. Baker, 97, of Cascade, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Schnider Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Cascade United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Cascade Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Harry was born on October 8, 1916 in Elk Park, Montana to Adolph Ario and Hazel May (Argall) Baker. He graduated from high school in Butte, Montana. Harry attended Montana School of Mines from 1942-1944 and Wright College in Chicago from 1945-1946. His thirst for knowledge never ended as he continued taking higher education classes through Montana State University, Western Wyoming College and US FAA Academy, specializing in electrical and civil engineering and obtaining certification in ILS, VOR and NSME. Harry proudly served his country during WWII as a member of Navy serving aboard the USS Harry Lee. He worked for Deer Lodge National Forest from 1936-1941 and the Federal Aviation Administration from 1947-1977. He was a member of the Masons, Knights of the Pythians, Shriners and Eastern Star. Harry is survived by his sons, Harry (Helen) of Encino, CA, W. David (Martha) of Destin, FL, and George (Barbara) of Butte, MT; daughter Dorothy Domagala of Arvada, CO; sisters Bessie and Stella of Butte, MT; brother Billy of Atchison, KS; and he was blessed with 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel (Brown); wife Daryl (Dutcher); daughter E. Sylvia Polich; son Donald; brother Adolph; sister Mary; and his dear friend, Linnow Hoskins. In lieu of flowers/cards, his family requests memorial contributions be made in his name to Cascade Senior Center, 2 Central Ave. W., Cascade, MT 59421. |
