Middlesex - Louis F. Byrne, 91, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at CareOne at Somerset Valley in Bound Brook. Born in Newark to the late Louis and Genevieve (Byrne) Zirpolo, Louis lived in Union before settling to Middlesex many years ago.

Louis was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after faithfully serving his country as a Fireman First Class during World War II . He was an avid stock car racer and retired from Budweiser in Newark where he worked on the packaging line.

Louis had a passion for race cars and enjoyed watching Nascar and loved spending time with his granddaughters. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish and in his earlier years, he enjoyed roller skating.

Predeceased by his first wife Carol (Kling) Byrne and his two daughters; Cindy Ross and Mary Lou Gambino, Louis leaves behind his wife Bonnie Drecksage-Bryne, daughters Holly Zulos of Middlesex and Linda Mennen of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, granddaughters Sofia and Tessa Gambino, son-in-law Ronald Gambino and by several extended family members.

Visitation will be held in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 4-8 pm. Beginning 7:30 pm, there will be a religious service followed by Military Honors. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans or the Middlesex Police Department would be appreciated
