JOHN COLLIER

John Collier, 94, of Titusville, went home to be with the Lord, on January 2, 2016. 

Born December 16, 1921, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Thomas and Jennie Collier. John was also preceded in death by his brother Tom and his stepmother, Rose.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret, sons Ron (Cindy), Chuck, and Tim (Margo), five grandchildren, Keara (Adam) Trummel, Marc (Devon), Taylor, Hunter and Logan, two great-grandchildren, Calvin and Kacie, and his niece, Barbara Freeman.

Soon after graduating from Northeast High School, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving our country for 32 years as a Hospital Corpsman.

During World War II, he was stationed on ships in the three main theaters of operations - the Mediterranean Sea; North Atlantic and the Pacific.

Upon retiring from the U.S. Navy, John went back to college and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Southern. John then worked in banking industry, retiring after 20 years.

John loved following the U.S. Naval Academy sports and the Philadelphia Phillies. He was a player/coach in softball for over 30 years, playing well into his 70's.

He was a member of several U.S. Navy reunion associations.

A lifelong Christian, John was a Deacon at Faith Baptist Church.

There will be a Memorial Service at Faith Baptist Church, Titusville, on Saturday, January 23 at 1PM. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to Space Coast Honor Flight, Inc (Rockledge) whose mission is to take World War II and Korean War Veterans to visit their War Memorials in Washington D.C.
