FRED CHARLES OTT
US ARMY 32nd DIVISION
Aboard the Lee when it deployed to the Philippines

Fred's son, Calvin provided this information about his father:

Fred's family never knew what he experienced in WW2 because he rarely spoke of his experience. After Fred's
passing in August of 2009, Calvin found some notes he had written speaking about being deployed aboard
the Lee to the Philippines.

Fred Charles Ott
09/15/1944 to 11/03/1946
South Pacific Army Infantry Foot Soldier, Rifleman, Cook, Mess Sergeant.

His words stated that on one of the darkest moments, speaking of the ships efforts to shore at Luzon,
as the ship hit sunken ships and was short of projected position:
“Thanks to the brave fighter pilots and fellow brave soldiers, I was one of the blessed ones that day.“

Thank you for sharing this with Fred's USS Harry Lee shipmates, Calvin.
