Jerry Schaeper

Jerry lived with two of his five children in
the Cincinnati area.  He worked for many
years as a machinist and retired from
General Electric in 1980.

   

Jerome J. "Romie" Schaeper

Jerome J. "Romie" Schaeper, Sr. of Edgewood (formerly of Covington) died on Sunday, January 25, 2004 due to complications from kidney failure. He was 88.

He was proceeded in death by his wife of 51 years, Ruth (nee Kohmescher), and three brothers; Leonard, Charles (Bud) and John (Jack).

Surviving are his five children; Tom (Kathy) Schaeper of Ischua, NY, Susan Savage of Cheviot, OH, Jerry Schaeper Jr. of Edgewood, KY, Judy Thompson of Edgewood, KY and Bill (Angie) Schaeper of Villa Hills. He is also survived by five grandchildren (Ken Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Stephanie Savage, Emily Schaeper and Joe Schaeper) and one great grandchild (CJ Thompson). He is also survived by five siblings; Nonnie Schneider, Jean Hutter, Rosemary Reuteman, Larry Schaeper and Ida Mae Krupp.

Jerome was a WW II Navy Veteran serving as a signalman on The U.S.S. Harry Lee. Jerome was a machinist with General Electric in Evendale and retired in 198.

He was a member of St. Aloysius parish in Covington all his life until the Church caught fire and burned to the ground in 1985. Jerome was also a member of the Sons of Dixie Barbershop Music Chorus for numerous years. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.

Visitation will be from 4:30-7:30 P.M. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home in Covington. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 A.M., Thursday at St. John Catholic Church in Covington. Burial at Mother of God Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation of KY, 250 E.
