WALTER F. "WALLY" WARD
OBITUARY
Walter F. Ward of West Beach Street, Westerly, passed away at The Westerly Hospital on
Sunday, February 5, 2017, at the age of 94.
He was the husband of the late Margaret (Carney) Ward.
Entering the US Navy at the age of 18, Walter served more than five years including
active duty on multiple vessels during WWII . He worked as an outside painter for Electric Boat
in Groton for 37 years until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Pius X Church and
a life member of the Amancio Falcone Gaccione VFW Post No. 8955.
Walter enjoyed golf in his younger days.
He is survived by a son Raymond Ward of Westerly and a grandson Jonathan Ward.
He was predeceased by his dear companion of more than 20 years Mary Lawton; and a brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly,
on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly, is in charge of the arrangements.
